New Mini
7s format:
As you may already have heard the
national Mini 7s structure has been totally changed. There is no longer a
provincial festival for selecting the players who will represent counties on the
big championship days in Croke Park. The decision on how players are
selected is to be left to each county committee of Cumann na mBunscol.
New
arrangements:
Cumann na mBunscol Dhún na nGall has
decided, innatially, to hold blitzes for girls and boys on a regional/divisional
basis. 7 girls and 7 boys from each division will be selected on these days to
go to the county blitz where the representatives for the mini 7s events in Croke
Park will be chosen. Please note, however, that the rules on dates of birth have
not changed.
What you
are being asked to do:
Each affiliated school is invited to
send children to represent their school on these blitz days. The breakdown for
numbers is as follows:
Roinn 1 schools: Up to a max of 4
girls and 4 boys.
Roinn 2 schools: Up to a max of 3
girls and 3 boys.
Roinn 3 & Roinn 4 schools: Up to a
max of 2 girls and 2 boys.
If you wish to enter children in the
blitzes you must email their name, date of birth and favoured position if they
have one to

The
closing date for entries is Monday 5th October.
** Please take careful note of the
dates of birth of the children you plan to send because they must be within the
dates setout on the attached form according to the size of your school.
What
will happen next?
As soon as the closing date has passed,
the committee will meet to review numbers of children entered and make
arrangements for the holding of regional blitzes. When the arrangements have
been made your divisional rep will be in touch with the details. It is hoped to
have the regional blitzes after school on a week day with the county blitz being
held on a Saturday.

Info:
A maximum 2 players per school will be
allowed through to the county blitz and obviously there is no guarantee that any
of your players will be chosen.
On the blitz days children will be mixed
into teams every effort will be made to give children a run in a variety of
positions.
